Stays

Six elevated river-view suites are available, including one two-bedroom “star bed” option by request.

I can also create a slightly more immersive, inviting version if you want it to feel more experiential.

Adventures

Enjoy 4x4 day and night game drives, mokoro and boat safaris, and guided walking safaris. Experience star-bed outdoor sleeping, join the elephant interaction program when available, and take in the landscape from optional scenic flights.

Features

The lodge features eco-sensitive design built on stilts with solar power and off-grid systems. Raised walkways blend seamlessly with nature, leading to a communal lounge, bar, and pool overlooking the lagoon. Its intimate scale is perfect for romantic or small-group stays, with a star-bed roll-out option available.

Only Here

At Baines’ Lodge you won’t find crowds or bustle, only the quiet drama of the Okavango. The water flows around you, an artist’s palette of reeds, lagoons, and sky. For couples, small groups, or travelers seeking solitude, the lodge offers the rare gift of stillness with immersive wildlife experiences. Sleep under the stars, drift in Mokoros, and ride with guides off the beaten path. Baines’ is not a stopover but a pause in your journey where every moment is full of intention.

Baines’ Lodge is built for those who seek meaningful escape rather than spectacle. Its six suites invite close connection — to the rhythms of flood, to quiet nights, to the art in nature’s detail. It’s ideal for honeymooners, couples, small families, and travelers who prefer deeper immersion over mass safari. With a design philosophy that honors the landscape rather than dominating it, every moment here feels curated for reflection.

“Light Footprint, Deep Beauty”

Rebuilt in 2025, Baines’ Lodge was conceived from the ground up with ecological integrity in mind. Suites are raised on stilts so wildlife moves freely underneath. The architecture employs removable timber structures and low-impact foundations that leave little trace. Solar power provides most electricity, with backup systems only when needed. Communal structures are woven around natural features like termite mounds, minimizing earthworks. Waste is managed with strict separation and composting; water is carefully harvested and reused. These practices reflect a commitment to blending luxury with stewardship. (While I did not find a public statement that the lodge is a member of The Long Run, the design philosophy aligns closely with its principles.)

Location
Botswana / Africa
19.5809, 23.2172
Xaxaba, Okavango Delta, North West District, Botswana
NEAREST AIRPORT
Maun International Airport (MUB)
The standard route is to fly into Maun (MUB). From there, guests take a scheduled light aircraft transfer to the lodge’s private airstrip within the concession, arranged by the operator. The flight from Maun usually takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on routing. Maun serves as your springboard, as road access is impractical for this remote location.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
June-October
These months fall during Botswana’s dry season and the heart of the Delta’s flood period, offering optimal visibility, active wildlife gathering around permanent water, easier navigation on the waterways, and lower mosquito activity.
