I have always believed that travel speaks to us long before we understand its language. For me, it started with a surfboard, a plane that could barely hold it, and a wild stretch of earth waiting for me in the Bahamas.

That trip was never planned, yet it changed everything.

It was not luxury. It was not curated. It was freedom, pure and simple. A dirt path through brush. A hidden cave above Surfer’s Beach. That is where my story began on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera in 1982. If you had told me then that travel would define my life, my career, and my purpose, I would never have believed you. But here we are.

Three decades later, more than thirty years of wandering have only strengthened what I know to be true. Travel is not just the miles we cross. It is the meaning we gather along the way. I have watched my daughter fall in love with Africa. I have seen travelers cry at sunsets that felt like homecomings.

I have shared countless moments with guides who are now family. And through all of it, one truth stays with me. Travel changes us when we allow it to.
